My Journey to Italian Citizenship

My Nonni and Poppi are from a small village South East of Rome. Like many people, they left Italy and moved to America after World War II. They started a family here, but never lost their roots in Italy. The house where my Nonni was born is still in our family, and we visit quite often. My grandparents had four children, my Dad being one of them.

I had never thought about getting my Italian citizenship until 2017. My sister, cousins, aunt and Nonni had gone there to visit our town and see our family there and then I met my boyfriend. Technically, I actually met him again. Because in 1992 when I was two years old and went there, I met him.
